The Bahamas is one of the wealthiest Caribbean countries. It's economy is heavily dependent on tourism and offshore banking. Tourism-driven construction and manufacturing account for approximately 60 percent of purchasing power parity. Therefore, many Bahamians work in hotels and other businesses related to tourism.
Less than 5 percent of the Bahamians are involved in farming. The farmers in the Bahamas grow different sorts of food such as bananas, citrus fruits, cucumbers, pineapples, tomatoes, and other crops.
Offshore manufacturing contributes $130 million to the economy annually, with domestic manufacturing accounting for another $90 million. Some of the manufacturing companies include: Brewery's, pharmaceutical companies, oil facilities, cement factories & food processing.
The Bahamas Trade Partners for Imports include: US, Trinidad and Tobago. While the Export partners include: US, UK & Canada.
